MTV Pimps an ‘65 Impala Giving More Horses

Filed under: Uncategorized - BigPimple @ 5:26 am

MTV’s Pimp My Ride celebrated the Earth Day last April 22 by doing a special edition show. The staff and crew of Pimp My Ride revamps a 1965 Chevy Impala giving it more power yet decreasing its potential harm to the environment.

Now how do you like that idea? Perfect, isn’t it? A high speed old car with eco-friendly features. That’s amazing.  It may not have the Sterling catalytic converter but guys, its MTV, Pimp My Ride - I never hold a doubt if it works better than any other revamped vehicle.

Anyway, all is taken cared of by the crew of Pimp My Ride and the pimping happened at Galpin Auto Sports. So instead of looking for more engines, they have chosen the old pre-EPA engine to get under the hood of the lame and old Chevy Impala. The GM also gave it a monstrous brand new Duramax V8 which is only found on trucks and SUVs of the US’ biggest selling car maker. After several tweaks, the new engine part is comfortably fitted on the vehicle’s engine mount.

The Pimpers are still not satisfied with its monstrous ability and decided to add greener features on the old Impala. To give justice to its so called real time environment-friendly car, the crew gave it a huge 800hp from the previous 360hp. Plus, it is now matched with a greener biodiesel! Now you can call it a green ride.

Happy Earth Day everybody!

25th Rolex Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park

Last weekend, we have known about the Rolex Vintage Festival presented by BMW as part of their 25th anniversary celebration.  It has been held at Lime Rock Park.  Vintage car owners flaunted their car’s skills at speed, as part of enjoying a quick Labor Day holiday.  They have prepared their precious cars for the event, secured that BMW 735i Parts are at its best shape.  Thousands of people gathered to witness the much awaited event, expecting that sights and sounds of vintage race cars will bring forth relaxing atmosphere away from work and stress.

It was in 1957 that Lime Rock first opened, turning 50 years old this year.  It is a 1.53 mile circuit nestled in a valley of the Berkshire Mountains.  Some of the cars that have smoothly swooped into the curved were the latest iterations of automotive technology 50 years back.  But, that is not the oldest.  Much further, few of the outstanding great wars’ race cars joined, including Ben Bragg’s open wheel 1935 Reuter V-8 Special ‘Old Grey Mare’, Jonathan Feiber’s 1930 Bugatti T-35B, and Frank Mount’s 1939 MG TB Special.  Cars in the ‘50s and ‘60s have also participated, including Lawrence Marks’ 1952 Allard K2, Mark Sherman’s 1953 MG TD, and Richard Odgers’ 1957 Morgan+4.

An article from classicrallies.com said, “The Masterpiece Collector exhibit featured a 1933 Le Mans-winning Alfa Romeo driven by Tazio Nuvolari and a Ferrari TR61, another Le Mans winner, driven by Phil Hill and Oliver Gendebien. Additionally, two more Ferraris from New Hampshire were present, including the 121LM prototype and a 1964 GTO.”

As expected, there were awards given to the best vehicles in the event.  It includes the Ladies’ Choice Award, the Pick of the Paddock, and Best of Show Award.

According to Steve Earle, president of event organizer Lime Rock Vintage Events, “Sunday at the Rolex Vintage Festival is special because spectators and fellow racers have a chance to see these special vehicles up close…  When you have the opportunity to look inside of the cars and under their engines, it really makes you appreciate them as true works of art.”  And, I strongly believe in that, which means that the-like events are by fact is important to every car enthusiast’s interest.
