Rent Your Fantasy… Cars

Filed under: Uncategorized - BigPimple @ 1:59 pm

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But no. What happens in Vegas has to be told…

The capital of glam and glitz is offering fantasy cars for rent. In Vegas, you can ride the most stunning cars in your fantasy dreams at a much cheaper price. If you can’t buy one, then rent. No worries.

As you contemplate on where to buy your Acura Integra oxygen sensor replacement, figure this out:

A Houston Chronicle release has this to say: On Swenson Avenue, not far from McCarran International Airport, I found RAV (Rent-a-Vette), which specializes in exotic automobiles. A Lamborghini Gallardo or a Ferrari 360 Spider will set you back $1,495 per day. A Bentley Continental GT goes for $995, and a Corvette convertible (very popular) for $295.

"A lot of people, when they hit big at the table, they come down and rent a Lamborghini or a Ferrari," marketing director Kealy Marie said.

What do you think are the lure of these cars? "Because it’s Las Vegas," Marie said. "People want to play the part, the bling-bling fantasy. Also, they can’t afford to buy the car." RAV rentals have neither identifying stickers nor license plate frames, she added, so "it looks like it’s their own. But valets pretty much know what’s what."

Now, ask yourself: Do you wanna transform your fantasy into reality?

We have seen our share of unique cars haven’t we?  Yet, there’s always that new thing that looks weird yet cool and so unique.  One of those cars is this off-roading Smart ForTwo made by Stephanos Attard, a Greek racer and champion of Serial 4x4 Rally Races.  Of course, it’s his fascination with off-road vehicles which gave him the idea of creating e vehicle which will be as comfortable and stylish as an ordinary car with great off-road riding capabilities.

According to Tuning Mag, the Smart ForFun2 has been created by fusing a ForTwo and a Unimog 460.  Of course, it would take a lot of thinking on the part of the designers of the car to make it work.  It is not easy of course to take two vehicles and fuse them into one.  You have to consider different systems like the electrical system, the suspension, the powertrain, in short, pretty much everything.

The chassis of the two vehicles were both used to create the ForFun2.  Talk about engineering challenge eh?  The wheel of course came from the Unimog.  If you are creating an off-road vehicle, you would never really use those itty bitty Smart wheels are you?  Anyway, the Unimog’s wheels, all 1.4 meters in diameter of them are used for the ForFun2.

The engine also comes from eth Unimog.  The powerplant of the said vehicle is a 5.7-liter turbo diesel engine which produces 84 horsepower.  The challenge in using the Unimog’s engine is for it to fit the engine bay on the Smart ForTwo.  But obviously, they overcame that challenge.  The resulting vehicle is one that looks really weird yet cool. It looks kinda a mini off-roader.  If this is the ForFun2, I can’t wait until they make the ForFun3.
