Off-Road Smart
According to Tuning Mag, the Smart ForFun2 has been created by fusing a ForTwo and a Unimog 460. Of course, it would take a lot of thinking on the part of the designers of the car to make it work. It is not easy of course to take two vehicles and fuse them into one. You have to consider different systems like the electrical system, the suspension, the powertrain, in short, pretty much everything.
The chassis of the two vehicles were both used to create the ForFun2. Talk about engineering challenge eh? The wheel of course came from the Unimog. If you are creating an off-road vehicle, you would never really use those itty bitty Smart wheels are you? Anyway, the Unimog’s wheels, all 1.4 meters in diameter of them are used for the ForFun2.
The engine also comes from eth Unimog. The powerplant of the said vehicle is a 5.7-liter turbo diesel engine which produces 84 horsepower. The challenge in using the Unimog’s engine is for it to fit the engine bay on the Smart ForTwo. But obviously, they overcame that challenge. The resulting vehicle is one that looks really weird yet cool. It looks kinda a mini off-roader. If this is the ForFun2, I can’t wait until they make the ForFun3.
