The World’s First-Ever Amphibious Car

So you love scuba diving? But you also enjoy driving? Well, why choose when you can do both at the same time?

Introducing the scuba car - the world’s first ever amphibious car. As we all know, an amphibious vehicle or craft is a means of transport feasible on both land and water, yeah, just like an amphibian. If ever your former habit was sleeping during your Biology class, well, a frog is the simplest example of an amphibian.

The scuba car is being developed by Rinspeed, a Swiss automobile manufacturer and tuning designer and is known for its eccentric concepts. Rinspeed’s scuba car is designed to run on both land and water (Hmm… swim is a more appropriate word, I guess).

The scuba car, that quite resembles a submarine, is water resistant and can hold water pressure 10 meters using jet drives in the bow and propellers in the stern. Remember the movie Scuba? Precisely! The car drew its inspiration from James Bond’s Lotus Esprit, the car he used in that film. It has an electric motor that drives the rear wheels. Carbon nano tubes give its driver and passenger the power to breathe fresh air from the self-contained on-board system. But for environmentalists out there, don’t worry ‘coz the scuba car guarantees zero emissions and zero pollution. Therefore, it doesn’t require such things like Acura Legend fog lights.

Rinspeed’s amphibious car will certainly be a hit in its launch at the Geneva Motor Show scheduled on March 6 to 16. However, like many other Rinspeed inventions, there are no plans yet of mass-producing the scuba car.
