Making A One-Of-A-Kind Car

It is not too hard to look for unique cars.  Wherever there are auto performance enthusiasts, there’s bound to be a unique car there.  But building one?  It entails a lot of hard work and a small fortune.  But I found an article on the World Wide Web which tackles the possibility of creating a unique car without burning a hole in your pocket.

Julian Edgar writes for autospeed and he has his ideas on how to make a really unique car.  Basically, in his article, he said that it is cost effective if one should just improve a mass produced vehicle to make it look different with a new body and by improving its performance.

"Rather than take just some bits from a donor car (whether that’s a Honda S2000 or a Mazda MX5), why not build the one-off car around all the mechanical bits of another car? The engine, driveline, brakes, suspension, instruments, wiring loom, engine management, traction control, ABS – the lot," writes Edgar.

He also said that there are some vehicles out there that can be easily made into a one-off car.  "If you picked a car with a low-mounted engine (like an Impreza WRX) or a mid-mount engine (like a Toyota MR2) you could surely change the shape of the body very considerably so that it wouldn’t resemble the donor in any visual way," he continued.

This is quite a good idea.  If you are really looking to buy a new unique car from a manufacturer of specialty cars, why not a used car and have its appearance changed?  It really makes a lot of sense since you only have to replace the auto body parts of the vehicle.
